How to connect your calendars
HomestayCalendar acts as a central hub for all your properties. By setting up a two-way sync, you can import dates from your booking channels, and export your manually blocked dates back out to them.
1. Getting Started
- Go to Sign up and create a free account.
- Open the app and click + Add property (give it a name and color).
2. Manage Dates Manually
You no longer need an external Google Calendar to block dates. You can manage everything natively inside HomestayCalendar!
- Tap or click on any date on your calendar.
- In the day detail view, find the Manual Block section.
- Click Block next to a property to instantly mark it as occupied.
3. Import from your Booking Sites
To see your reservations in HomestayCalendar, you need to grab the export iCal link from each of your booking sites and paste them into your property settings.
Booking.com
- Log in to the Booking.com Extranet.
- Open the calendar for the room / unit.
- Find Sync calendars.
- Click Add Connection, choose Skip to export.
- Choose Export calendar and copy the link.
- Paste into HomestayCalendar’s Booking.com field.
Airbnb
- Open Airbnb and go to your listing’s calendar.
- Go to Availability settings → Sync calendars / calendar export.
- Copy the export link.
- Paste into HomestayCalendar’s Airbnb field.
VRBO
- Open your VRBO owner / partner dashboard.
- Look for calendar sync, import/export, or iCal.
- Copy the export calendar link.
- Paste into HomestayCalendar’s VRBO field.
Agoda
- Log in to Agoda YCS.
- Find calendar / iCal export for the room type.
- Copy the export URL into HomestayCalendar’s Agoda field.
4. Export back to Booking Sites
To complete the two-way sync, you need to give your booking sites your HomestayCalendar Export Link. This ensures that any manual blocks you create in HomestayCalendar will automatically push to Airbnb, VRBO, etc.
- Open your Settings inside HomestayCalendar.
- Scroll to a property and find its Export Calendar Link.
- Click Copy to copy the secure URL.
- Go to your booking sites and find their Import Calendar setting.
- Paste the URL there. You're done!
5. Multiple Devices & Cloud Sync
By default, signed-in accounts sync automatically in the cloud. If you want to share your dashboard with a cleaner or co-host without giving them your login:
- Open Settings and look for your 4-digit private sync code.
- Have your co-host go to the app, enter that code, and click Pull to download your setup!
6. Important Note on iCal Sync Delays
While your calendars will automatically sync, standard iCal updates are not instantaneous. Platforms like Airbnb and Booking.com typically fetch new iCal data on a schedule, which can take 1 to 3 hours.
Because iCal only reads "busy" dates, unblocking a date simply removes that block from the file rather than actively pushing an "open" status. If you need a date made available immediately for a waiting guest, do not wait for the automatic sync to catch up. It is always safest to log directly into your specific booking platform (e.g., the Booking.com Extranet or Airbnb calendar) to open the date manually.
