FAQ
Does this replace a channel manager?+
No. HomestayCalendar is not a full channel manager. It pulls occupancy from iCal, lets you add direct bookings / block dates, and can export those blocks back to sites like Airbnb and VRBO via your private export link. Pricing, inventory push, and messaging still stay on Booking, Airbnb, Agoda, VRBO, or your channel manager.
Can I block dates and record direct bookings?+
Yes. Click a day in the app to block or unblock nights for a property, rename direct bookings, and see them on the calendar alongside channel stays. Connect your HomestayCalendar export link in Airbnb/VRBO so those blocks push out automatically.
Are my iCal links safe?+
Import links are stored in your account (or private sync code) and only requested through our Cloudflare proxy — never exposed to other users’ browsers. Export links are secret URLs you choose who to share with.
How fresh is the data?+
Feeds refresh when you open the app, hit Refresh, or on a quiet 15-minute auto-refresh while the tab is open. Edge cache is about 10 minutes. That’s much fresher than syncing booking calendars into Google Calendar — Google often only re-fetches external iCal links every 12–24 hours. HomestayCalendar checks often so you see occupancy updates the same day.
Why not just import iCal into Google Calendar?+
You can — but Google is slow to re-check external calendars, and you still need somewhere to block dates. HomestayCalendar refreshes often, lets you block nights and log direct bookings natively, and can export those blocks back to channels that support iCal import.
