Calendar connections

Airbnb & Booking.com
calendar sync, explained.

Where both listings support iCal, copy each platform’s calendar export link into the other platform’s calendar import settings. Add links in both directions to share unavailable dates. This does not synchronize prices or guest messages.

01

For the same rental

Connect Airbnb and Booking.com directly

You can connect the two platforms without a HomestayCalendar account, if calendar import and export are available for your listings. Match the same rental or unit in both services before adding any links.

  1. Copy the listing’s export link from Airbnb’s calendar connection settings. Add it to the matching Booking.com calendar’s import settings, where that option is available.
  2. Copy the matching Booking.com calendar’s export link. Add it as an imported calendar in Airbnb.
  3. Check the imported dates on both platforms. Keep the subscriptions connected and check each platform’s sync status; reading a link is not an instant update.

Use the platforms’ official instructions linked below for current screens and eligibility. If your property uses another inventory system, check those existing connections before adding duplicate calendar subscriptions.

Calendar links have different jobs
What you wantWhich link goes where
Send Airbnb dates to Booking.comAirbnb export → Booking.com import, if supported
Send Booking.com dates to AirbnbBooking.com export → Airbnb import
View channel bookings togetherEach platform’s export → its property field in HomestayCalendar
Share direct stays or manual blocksHomestayCalendar property export → each receiving platform

HomestayCalendar adds a combined view across properties and a way to record and share your own blocks. The following sections explain that separate workflow.

02

Start with the dates

What does iCal sync?

iCal is a calendar subscription format, often shared through a URL ending in .ics. A platform exports a calendar link; another service imports that link and reads its events. The calendar link is different from your public listing address.

In HomestayCalendar, you can view imported stays from Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, and other iCal feeds in one calendar for 1–8 properties. Each property keeps its own feeds, color, direct bookings, and export link.

Calendar feeds describe occupied or unavailable dates. They do not provide rate management, guest messaging, payments, or booking policies. Those tasks stay with the booking platforms. An iCal feed may also include limited or generic event labels rather than full reservation details.

03

Bring bookings together

Import Airbnb and Booking.com calendars

  1. Create your HomestayCalendar account, confirm your email, and open Settings → Properties. Name each property so you can match its feeds correctly.
  2. Find the calendar export option for the Airbnb listing and copy its iCal link. Paste it into that property’s Airbnb field.
  3. In the Booking.com Extranet, look for calendar sync if it is available for your listing. Copy the export link for the correct property, room, or unit and paste it into the matching Booking.com field.
  4. Check the links and save your changes. Compare the imported arrival and check-out dates with the original platform before relying on the combined view.

Use the step-by-step import instructions for the fields in the app. Platform screens and eligibility can vary; consult Airbnb’s calendar sync help and Booking.com’s calendar sync help for their current options.

04

Send your own blocks out

Export direct bookings and blocked dates

For a direct guest booking, an owner stay, or maintenance, select the date in HomestayCalendar and create a block for the right property. Then copy that property’s link from Settings → Export your blocks. Import it into the booking platforms that should receive those dates and support iCal imports.

The two directions have different jobs. Platform export links bring channel bookings into HomestayCalendar. The HomestayCalendar export link sends direct bookings and manual blocks created here out to a platform.

Reservations imported from Airbnb, Booking.com, or another channel are not re-exported through your HomestayCalendar link. Keep any existing channel-to-channel connections you use to share those reservations. Importing two feeds into this app alone does not connect Airbnb and Booking.com to each other.

A concrete example

An Airbnb reservation for 12–15 November appears in HomestayCalendar after its feed is read. To send those Airbnb dates to Booking.com, keep the Airbnb-to-Booking.com connection. If you create a maintenance block for 18–20 November in HomestayCalendar, its export link includes that block for platforms importing it. Check the receiving calendars after their next refresh.

Follow the export setup instructions and use a separate link for each property. Keep calendar subscription links private: anyone with a working link may be able to read the dates it exposes.

05

Check before confirming

Calendar sync is not instant

HomestayCalendar can refresh the imported view, but each receiving platform decides when it reads an export link. Pressing Refresh in this app does not force Airbnb or Booking.com to update their calendars.

Before accepting a last-minute stay, check availability on the original platforms. After adding a test block, confirm that it appears at the receiving platform and covers the intended nights. A check-out date is not an occupied night, so a stay from Friday to Monday occupies Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights.

If dates look wrong, check the property or unit, the direction of the link, and the platform’s latest sync status. Compare the same date range: week view summarizes seven nights, while month view summarizes the selected calendar month.

If you need coordinated changes to rates, inventory, or reservations beyond iCal date feeds, assess whether a channel manager fits that workflow. HomestayCalendar focuses on a combined calendar, occupancy, direct stays, and manual blocks.
